Title of Position: Graphic Design Consultant
Status: Part-time consultant (~ 40 hours/month)
Compensation: $15-25/hour based on experience
Location: Raleigh, NC


Summary: As a graphic designer, you will be expected to represent Angel Oak Creative and its clients with beautiful design across visual platforms and to execute design projects under creative direction and oversight from the senior designer.


Job Specifications: 

  • Work with agency’s senior designer to maintain clients’ visual identities through production of traditional and digital assignments
  • Provide production assistance to senior designer in prepping files for print and/or digital distribution through multiple variations when necessary for delivery
  • Uphold branding identities and standards, campaign identities, mood boards, wire frames, print collateral, infographics, website makeups and digital identities for all clients
  • Shape creative briefs and develop strong and engaging ideas in support of them alongside senior account executives
  • Possess a willingness to jump in and provide assistance outside of job description to achieve project success
  • Design agency promotional materials as needed


Work Expectations: The graphic designer is a contract position which means you are expected to do what is required to get the job done within the pre-approved budget from the senior designer. This position requires at least 40 hours per month in office. Additional requirements include:

  • Mastery of Adobe’s Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, XD and Photoshop), Microsoft Office and macOS
  • Mastery of layout, typography, color theory and the fundamentals of graphic and digital design; traditional illustration skills and versatility in style
  • Design comprehension and ability to artfully convey visual narratives
  • Experience designing collateral pieces for print and UI concepts
  • Strong understanding of branding and how to apply a brand’s visual language across multiple touchpoints
  • Quick thinker and problem solver working in a world of fast-paced deadlines on several projects at once
  • Project management skills including ability to work with others to plan, schedule and execute a project through to completion; time management skills are vital
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and organizational skills, including project file management
  • Ability to confidently present design ideas and recommendations in any setting
  • Embody strong interpersonal skills when interacting with staff
  • Ability to process direct, constructive criticism of work in a positive manner
  • Takes ownership of projects and pays extreme attention to detail
  • Excels in an entrepreneurial environment where work pressures, disturbances in workflow and unforeseen incidences occur on a regular basis
  • Ability to manage a large volume of work with tight deadlines and toggle between multiple clients/projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make ongoing prioritization and re-prioritization decisions
  • Thrives in collaboration and close proximity with others; ability to work seamlessly and cross-departmentally to develop brilliant design
